FOREX MARKET--THE LARGEST MARKET IN THE WORLD TO INVEST AND GET RICHER IF YOU USE THE RIGHT TOOLS
THE FOREX MARKET:THE WORLD LARGEST EXCHANGE
MARKET

The foreign exchange market, or forex, has notoriously been the domain of government central banks and commercial and
investment banks. But now more than ever individuals are tackling the forex market as it offers trading 24-hours a day, five days
a week, and the daily dollar volume of currencies traded in the currency market exceeds $1.9 trillion daily, making it the largest
and most liquid market in the world.
KNOWLEDGEFINANCIAL.COM

The foreign exchange (also known as "forex" or "FX") market is the place where
currencies are traded. The overall forex market is the largest, most liquid market in the world with an average traded value that
exceeds $1.9 trillion per day and includes all of the currencies in the world.

There is no central marketplace for currency exchange, rather, trade is conducted over-the-counter. The forex market is open 24 hours
a day, five days a week, with currencies being traded worldwide among the major financial centers of London, New York, Tokyo,
Zürich, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Singapore, Paris and Sydney - spanning most time zones.

The forex is the largest market in the world in terms of the total cash value traded, and any person, firm, or country may participate in

Authorized Forex Dealer   --- KNOWLEDGEFINANCIAL.COM

Any type of financial institution that has received authorization from a relevant regulatory body to act as a dealer
involved with the trading of foreign currencies. Dealing with authorized forex dealers ensure that your transactions
are being executed in a legal and just way.

In the United States, one regulatory body responsible for authorizing forex dealers is the National Futures
Association (NFA). The NFA ensures that authorized forex dealers are subject to stringent screening upon
registration and strong enforcement of regulations upon approval

Currency

A generally accepted form of money, including coins and paper notes, which is issued by a government and
circulated within an economy. Used as a medium of exchange for goods and services, currency is the basis for
trade.

Generally speaking, each country has its own currency. For example, Switzerland's official currency is the Swiss
franc, and Japan's official currency is the yen. An exception would be the euro, which is used as the currency for
several European countries.

Investors often trade currency on the foreign exchange market, which is one of the most heavily traded markets in
the world.

Foreign Currency Effects  --- KNOWLEDGEFINANCIAL.COM

The gain or loss on foreign investments due to changes in the relative value of assets denominated in a currency
other than the principal currency with which a company normally conducts business. A rising domestic currency
means foreign investments will result in lower returns when converted back to the domestic currency. The
opposite is true for a declining domestic currency.

Foreign investments are complicated by currency fluctuation and conversion between countries. A high quality
investment in another country may prove worthless because of a weak currency. Foreign-denominated debt used to
purchase domestic assets has led to bankruptcy in several cases due to a fast decline in a domestic currency or a
rapid rise in the currency of the foreign-denominated debt.
Decentralized Market ---- KNOWLEDGEFINANCIAL.COM

A market structure that consists of a network of various technical devices that enable investors to create a marketplace without
a centralized location. In a decentralized market, technology provides investors with access to various bids/ask prices and
makes it possible for them to deal directly with other investors/dealers rather than with a given exchange.

The foreign exchange market is an example of a decentralized market because there is no one physical location where
investors go to buy or sell currencies. Forex traders can use the internet to check the quotes of various currency pairs from
different dealers from around the world.

Exchange   ---- KNOWLEDGEFINANCIAL.COM

A marketplace in which securities, commodities, derivatives and other financial instruments are traded. The core function of
an exchange - such as a stock exchange - is to ensure fair and orderly trading, as well as efficient dissemination of price
information for any securities trading on that exchange. Exchanges give companies, governments and other groups a platform
to sell securities to the investing public.

An exchange may be a physical location where traders meet to conduct business or an electronic platform.

May also be referred to as "share exchange" or "bourse" depending on geographical location.

Exchanges are located all around the globe, with some of the more famous ones being the New York Stock Exchange, Nasdaq
and the Tokyo Stock Exchange. More and more trading is being done on electronic exchanges as markets become more
advanced and as the exchanges themselves are able to ensure fair trading without requiring all members to be on the same
trading floor.

Each exchange will have certain listing requirements for any company or group that wishes to offer securities for trading. Some
exchanges are more rigid than others, but basic requirements for stock exchanges include regular financial reports and audited
earnings reports.   KNOWLEDGEFINANCIAL.COM
Base Currency   --- KNOWLEDGEFINANCIAL.COM

The first currency quoted in a currency pair on forex. It is also typically considered the domestic currency or accounting
currency. For accounting purposes, a firm may use the base currency to represent all profits and losses.

It is sometimes referred to as the "primary currency".

For example, if you were looking at the CAD/USD currency pair, the Canadian dollar would be the base currency and the
U.S. dollar would be the quote currency. The price represents how much of the quote currency is needed for you to get one
unit of the base currency

Cross Currency

A pair of currencies traded in forex that does not include the U.S. dollar. One foreign
currency is traded for another without having to first exchange the currencies into
American dollars.

Historically, an individual who wished to exchange a sum of money into a different currency would be required to first
convert that money into U.S dollars, and then convert it into the desired currency; cross currencies help individuals and
traders bypass this step. The GBP/JPY cross, for example, was invented to help individuals in England and Japan who
wanted to convert their money directly without having to first convert it into U.S dollars.

Quote Currency  ---- KNOWLEDGEFINANCIAL.COM

The second currency quoted in a currency pair in forex. In a direct quote, the quote currency is the foreign currency. In an
indirect quote, the quote currency is the domestic currency.

Also known as the "secondary currency" or "counter
currency".

Understanding the quotation and pricing structure of currencies is essential for anyone wanting to trade currencies in the
forex market. If you were looking at the CAD/USD currency pair, the U.S. dollar would be the quote currency, and the
Canadian dollar would be the base currency.

Major currencies that are usually shown as the quote currency include the U.S. dollar, the British pound, the euro, the
Japanese yen, the Swiss franc and the Canadian dollar
How does this market differ from other markets?
Unlike the trading of stocks, futures or options, currency trading does not take place on a regulated exchange. It is not
controlled by any central governing body, there are no clearing houses to guarantee the trades and there is no arbitration
panel to adjudicate disputes. All members trade with each other based upon credit agreements. Essentially, business in the
largest, most liquid market in the world depends on nothing more than a metaphorical handshake

How much does it cost to trade forex? KNOWLEDGEFINANCIAL.COM

Before trading forex, you will have to open a trading account with a forex dealer. There are no rules about how a dealer
charges a customer for the services the dealer provides or that limit how much the dealer can charge. Before opening an
account, you should check with several dealers and compare their charges as well as their services.

The FX market is different from other markets in some other key ways that are sure to raise eyebrows. Think that the
EUR/USD is going to spiral downward? Feel free to short the pair at will. There is no uptick rule in FX as there is in stocks.
There are also no limits on the size of your position (as there are in futures); so, in theory, you could sell $100 billion worth
of currency if you had the capital to do it. If your biggest Japanese client, who also happens to golf with Toshihiko Fukui,
the Governor of the Bank of Japan, told you on the golf course that BOJ is planning to raise rates at its next meeting, you
could go right ahead and buy as much yen as you like. No one will ever prosecute you for insider trading should your bet
pay off. There is no such thing as insider trading in FX; in fact, European economic data, such as German employment
figures, are often leaked days before they are officially released.
Exchange Rate  --- KNOWLEDGEFINANCIAL.COM

The price of one country's currency expressed in another country's currency. In other words, the rate at which one currency
can be exchanged for another. For example, the higher the exchange rate for one euro in terms of one yen, the lower the
relative value of the yen.

In most financial papers, currencies are expressed in terms of U.S. dollars, while the dollar is commonly compared to the
Japanese yen, the British pound and the euro. As of the beginning of 2006, the exchange rate of one U.S. dollar for one
euro was about 0.84, which means that one dollar can be exchanged for 0.84 euros.

Currency Pair  --- KNOWLEDGEFINANCIAL.COM

The quotation and pricing structure of the currencies traded in the forex market: the value of a currency is determined by its
comparison to another currency. The first currency of a currency pair is called the "base currency", and the second
currency is called the "quote currency". The currency pair shows how much of the quote currency is needed to purchase
one unit of the base currency.

All forex trades involve the simultaneous buying of one currency and selling of another, but the currency pair itself can be
thought of as a single unit, an instrument that is bought or sold. If you buy a currency pair, you buy the base currency and
sell the quote currency. The bid (buy price) represents how much of the quote currency is needed for you to get one unit of
the base currency. Conversely, when you sell the currency pair, you sell the base currency and receive the quote currency.
The ask (sell price) for the currency pair represents how much you will get in the quote currency for selling one unit of base
currency.    --- KNOWLEDGEFINANCIAL.COM

For example, if the USD/EUR currency pair is quoted as being USD/EUR = 1.5 and you purchase the pair, this means that
for every 1.5 euros that you sell, you purchase (receive) US$1. If you sold the currency pair, you would receive 1.5 euros for
every US$1 you sell. The inverse of the currency quote is EUR/USD, and the corresponding price would be EUR/USD =
0.667, meaning that US$0.667 would buy 1 euro.
FOREIGN EXCHANGE-(forex or FX for short) is one of the most exciting,
fast-paced markets around. Until recently, trading in the forex market had been the domain of large financial institutions, corporations,
central banks, hedge funds and extremely wealthy individuals. The emergence of the internet has changed all of this, and now it is
possible for average investors to buy and sell currencies easily with the click of a mouse.
KNOWLEDGEFINANCIAL.COM

Daily currency fluctuations are usually very small. Most currency pairs move less than one cent per day,
representing a less than 1% change in the value of the currency. This makes foreign exchange one of the least volatile financial markets
around. Therefore, many speculators rely on the availability of enormous leverage to increase the value of potential movements. In the
forex market, leverage can be as much as 250:1. Higher leverage can be extremely risky, but because of round-the-clock trading and
deep liquidity, foreign exchange brokers have been able to make high leverage an industry standard in order to make the movements
meaningful for FX traders.

Extreme liquidity and the availability of high leverage have helped to spur the market's rapid growth and made it the
ideal place for many traders. Positions can be opened and closed within minutes or can be held for months. Currency prices are based
on objective considerations of supply and demand and cannot be manipulated easily because the size of the market does not allow
even the largest players, such as central banks, to move prices at will.

The forex market provides plenty of opportunity for investors. However, in order to be successful, a currency trader has to understand the
basics behind currency movements.

The goal of this tutorial is to provide a foundation for investors or traders who are new to the currency markets. We'll cover the basics of
foreign exchange, its history and the key concepts you need to understand in order to be able to participate in this market. We'll also
venture into how to start trading currencies and the different types of strategies that can be employed.

How do I calculate profits and losses?

Now that you know how forex is traded, it’s time to learn how to calculate your profits and losses. When you close out a
trade, take the price (exchange rate) when selling the base currency and subtract the price when buying the base currency,
then multiply the difference by the transaction size. That will give you your profit or loss.

Price (exchange rate) when selling the base currency – price when buying the base currency X transaction size = profit or

How does leverage impact forex trading?   KNOWLEDGEFINANCIAL.COM

As stated at the beginning of this program, off-exchange foreign currency trading carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for
all customers. The only funds that should ever be used to speculate in foreign currency trading, or any type of highly speculative
investment, are funds that represent risk capital; in other words, funds you can afford to lose without affecting your financial situation.

The risks of forex trading
We’ve mentioned throughout the program that forex trading carries a high level of risk. We’d like to take a minute to highlight some of
those risks.

We have divided this program into seven modules:

The fundamentals of foreign currency exchange rates;
How foreign currencies are quoted and priced;
How much it costs to trade foreign currencies;
How to calculate profits and losses;
How leverage works; and
The risks of forex trading.

1-Like many other investments, forex trading carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. Forex trading requires
constant monitoring and an understanding of the relationship between currencies, as well as what factors influence the currencies'
value. If you are a retail investor considering trading in this market, you need to understand fully the market and some of its unique
features.

One final note before we begin. This program does not suggest that you should or should not trade in the retail off-exchange foreign
currency market. You should make that decision after consulting with your financial advisor and considering your own financial
situation and objectives.  ---- KNOWLEDGEFINANCIAL.COM

The Forex Market is the Largest Market in the World

The price of currencies is constantly fluctuating.
Forex traders take advantage of these fluctuations by
buying and selling large sums of money in
order to make a profit.

Thousands of people are trading forex from the
comfort of their home every day. Now it is your turn.
4-  Ways To Invest In Currencies --- KNOWLEDGEFINANCIAL.COM

The foreign exchange market (forex) is the market where world currencies are traded 24 hours a day.

For some, it's simply a mechanism for changing one currency into another, such as multinational corporations
doing business in various countries. However, the market is also occupied by traders who bet on movements of
currencies relative to each other.

The forex market operates between individuals represented by
brokers, between brokers and banks, and between banks.
Currency
traders are not bound by the margin limits imposed by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on
securities traders. This offers the potential for tremendous leverage and the possibility of significant profits or
losses. Here are five ways for a retail investor to participate in this market.

IN PICTURES: Break Into Forex In 12 Steps

1.
Standard Trading Account
You can open an account with a forex broker and trade currencies from around the world. There are several
differences in how this market operates when compared to the U.S. stock exchanges:
•Currencies are traded in pairs - you are betting one will go up (long) and the other will go down (short).

•No regulated currency exchange and no central clearing house for trades.

•No uptick rule for taking short positions.

•No upper limit in the size of your position.

•Currency dealers generally make money on the bid-ask spread, rather than charging commissions.

3.3
. CDs & Savings Accounts
EverBank offers a WorldCurrency certificate of deposit (CD) that earns interest at local rates in specific countries,
and a basket CD that includes a mix of various currencies. It also offers a foreign currency account that functions
like a money market account and allows the transfer of money between major currencies.

The CDs are subject to exchange rate fluctuations but feature a higher interest rate than dollar-denominated CDs.
When the CD matures, you will get back fewer dollars than you invested if the dollar strengthened against the
foreign currency. FDIC insurance protects you against bank insolvency, but not the currency risk.

4.Foreign Bond Funds
There are mutual funds that invest in foreign government bonds, which earn interest denominated in the foreign
currency. If the foreign currency goes up in value relative to your local currency, the earned interest increases
when converted back to local currency.
Examples of such funds include the Merk Hard Currency Fund, Aberdeen Global Income Fund, and Templeton
Global Bond Fund.

5.Multinational Corporations
Many stockholders indirectly participate in the foreign currency markets through their ownership in companies that
do significant business in foreign countries. Some of the better known American companies with overseas
exposure are Coca-Cola, McDonald's, IBM and WalMart.

The revenues and profits derived from overseas operations are boosted if the foreign currency appreciates versus
the dollar. This is because those revenues are converted back into dollars for financial reporting purposes, and a
stronger foreign currency will yield more dollars in exchange. (To learn more, see How U.S. Firms Benefit When The
Dollar Falls.)

The Bottom Line
Like all investments, investing in currencies involves risk, especially during volatile economic times. One
advantage of the currency market is that it's, theoretically, a level playing field.

Currencies are impacted by world events around the clock, and the internet and wireless communications provide
almost instant access to even the small investors. Currencies provide some measure of diversification for people
who invest primarily in U.S. securities
The 4 R's Of Investing In Retail---

The retail industry begins and ends with the letter
R. Successfully managing return on investment
(ROI) and other financial indicators is the key to a
healthy business. Expansion is an important part
of retail growth but only when generating positive
cash flow from those capital expenditures.

Without a positive return on investment, retailers
are wasting good money after bad. It's critical for
retail managers to quantify as much as possible
so that they may better understand the
profitability and financial health of their business.

When combined with other financial metrics like
same-store sales, the four R's of retail should
paint a financial picture that's vibrant and
constantly getting stronger.
-----------------

Profit and Loss Statement--
Every business begins with the profit and loss
statement (P&L statement), commonly referred
to as the income statement. It's a retailer's road
map to success or failure.

While it's important to increase top-line revenues
through same-store sales growth and new store
openings, it's more important retailers do so
profitably.

Return on revenues (ROR) is the
cornerstone of any retail operation. It tells you
how much net income is made from those
top-line revenues.

Nearly as important is gross margin return on
investment, which is the gross margin profit on
the cost of your inventory. The more you make
per unit sold, the easier it is to produce
bottom-line net profits.
------------------------

Balance Sheet--
Every retail store maintains inventory. Considered
an asset on the balance sheet, when combined
with the P&L statement, it can tell you a lot about
how the product is selling.

Dividing inventory into the trailing-12-months'
revenue, you arrive at the number of inventory
turns in those 12 months (the higher number, the
better).

Grocery stores traditionally have lower margins,
and thus need to turn inventory many more times
than luxury retailers who make far more per
transaction but far less in overall unit sales.

Ultimately, the two retailers may deliver the same
net income, but from much different volumes.
(Learn more about the balance sheet in Reading
The Balance Sheet.)
-----------------------------
Cash Flow Statement--
Did you know it's possible to be profitable and yet
generate negative cash flow? Well, it's true and
the converse happens as well. This is when a
business losing money generates positive cash
flow.

Often it can be as simple as the payment terms
you have with your suppliers. For instance, the
profitable retailer might get 30 days to pay its bills
while the money loser gets 60.

Although this catches up with the money-losing
retailer eventually, it can carry on for some time.
Look for companies that make money and
generate positive cash flow.
Even better are those that generate free cash
flow, which is the cash from operations after
taking into account capital expenditures.
------------------------
Return on Invested Capital---
Moving from the big picture company-wide to the
front line individual store operations for a
moment, the second R in retail makes its
appearance. Return on invested capital,
sometimes referred to as "four-wall cash
contribution," is the amount of profit generated
per store.

The speed at which each store can return the
invested capital required to open it, the faster the
retailer can grow its overall profits.
For example, if a new store in a home
improvement chain averages $2 million in annual
sales in the first year open and its four-wall
contribution is $200,000, a $300,000 investment
to build and open the store is repaid in 18 months.

Its return on invested capital is 67%. Successful
retailers look for store revenues and four-wall
contribution to increase in years two and three. If
not, there's a problem.
-----------------------------

Return on Total Assets--
Back to the big picture, return on total assets tells
a company how much operating profit it's making
from its assets.

Here again, bigger is better. In the retail industry,
this number will vary depending on the business.

Specialty retailers require less retail space,
fixtures, inventory, etc. Home improvement
stores on the other hand operate in much larger
retail footprints and thus require greater assets.
Having to use more doesn't necessarily make
these stores inferior.

It's simply the cost of doing business in that
particular industry. What's important is how a
retailer's return on total assets compares with
the competition.

If it's generating a return on total assets of 10%
and its competitor across the street does 20%,
it's an indication that the competitor is operating
more efficiently.
-------------------------

Return on Capital Employed--
This tells us how efficiently retailers use their
capital. It is defined as earnings before interest
and taxes (EBIT) divided by capital employed,
which generally is represented by total assets
less current liabilities.

However, a more appropriate definition of capital
employed would be shareholders' equity plus net
debt. After all, ROCE is a pretax look at its return
on debt & equity, which is different from ROIC,
which is an after-tax (dividends paid) look at its
profitability.
While ROCE is a more telling number than return
on equity, it too has its limits.

For instance, if a retailer in the auto parts
business repurchased $1 billion of its own stock
in a given year and as a result, its book value
turned negative, both the ROE and ROCE are
affected adversely, despite the fact it made close
to $1 billion in net profit.

Financial metrics can only take you so far. (For
more in-depth information on ROCE, see Spotting
Profitability With ROCE.)
----------------------

Conclusion--
Although customer service is an important
component of successful retail, it's just one of the
many things that must be executed flawlessly in
order to continue growing. At the top of the list
should be financial discipline.

If a retail business doesn't possess this trait, it
likely won't be around very long. The strongest
retailers understand that every store should be
profitable.

Otherwise, there is no justification for tying up the
capital required to open them. The faster a store
is able to recover the initial investment, the faster
it's able to please the four R's of retail.
Top 6 Ways to Increase Your Tax Refund Now//--

For many Americans, an income tax refund is a windfall -- a chunk of money that can be used for many
different purposes. But the amount of this refund is determined by the numbers that are generated
from the previous year.

Therefore, the fourth quarter of the year is the time to start thinking about what can be done to
maximize the amount that you can get back when you file your return in the spring. Here are some of
the more common strategies that you can implement as the year ends:

Charitable Donations--
Filers who are on the edge of being able to itemize their deductions for the year should consider
making a donation of either cash or property to a qualified charity before the year is out.

This can be especially beneficial if the filer has a piece of property of some value that he or she wishes
to dispose of, such as an extra car or recreational vehicle. These can provide a substantial deduction
that can increase your refund by hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars.

Retirement Plan Contributions--
Those who need to reduce their taxable income for the year should make the maximum allowable
contributions to their traditional, deductible retirement plans. In some cases, such as small business
owners and those who make the maximum allowable lump-sum contribution to their plans for the year,
this deduction can be fairly large.

Although contributing to Roth accounts may be the best way to go for some, traditional plan
contributions afford a current deduction that can make a huge difference in the amount of declarable
income for many filers. Even low-income taxpayers can claim the retirement savers' credit for small
contributions to their IRAs or employer-sponsored qualified plans.

Education Expenses--
Parents who pay tuition for their kids' higher education are usually eligible for education tax credits of
some sort. Those who must deplete their savings for this reason should take care to record the
amounts paid for their tax records. The credits for these expenses can reduce a parent's tax bill by
thousands of dollars, depending upon the circumstances.

Organization--
As rudimentary as this may sound, good record keeping is essential to maximizing your tax
deductions. Make sure that you record every charitable contribution, every above-the-line deduction
and anything else that can increase your income tax refund for the year.

Keep copies of all receipts and other documentation that proves your transactions, as the IRS now
requires this in order to accept these deductions on every return. Those who fail to do so invite a
negative adjustment to their tax returns if they should become subject to an audit.

Miscellaneous Deductions--
Many taxpayers may be surprised when they discover that certain kinds of expenses or losses can be
deducted on their tax returns. Gambling losses are deductible, though only on par with winnings, and
investment expenses (such as IRA custodial fees and margin interest) are only deductible if they
exceed a certain percentage of your adjusted gross income (AGI).

Capital Losses--
This could be a good time to cut your losses in the market, if you are a short-term investor. Swap out
losing stocks or bonds for similar holdings that offer potential gains and realize the losses on your
return.

These can provide a maximum reduction of $3,000 of your reportable income, or reduce your reported
income by more, if you have large reportable gains that you can write your losses against this year.
And reduced income can translate into a larger refund, in most cases.

The Bottom Line--
These are just some of the ways that taxpayers can increase their tax refunds. But remember that
your refund is just that; it's the return of excess money that you have withheld from your paycheck
throughout the year.

What is Forex?

Forex is the market where all the world's currencies trade. The forex
market is the largest, most liquid market in the world with an average
daily trading volume exceeding over$5 trillion.

There is no central exchange as it trades over the counter. Forex
trading allows you to buy and sell currencies, similar to stock trading
except you can do it 24 hours a day, five days a week, you have
access to margin trading, and you gain exposure to international
markets.
